Welcome to Runkle Extended Day!
Runkle Extended Day (RED) provides a safe, reliable, relaxed, and fun after-school environment for children in pre-k through seventh grade. The program is staffed by a group of caring teachers who provide a warm and secure environment for the children.
Our children are offered a wide variety of enriching and creative activities throughout their day, and are encouraged to experience autonomy, cooperation and responsibility. The program has been a very happy and healthy place for children, teachers, and parents for many years.
LOCATION
RED’s main dedicated room is located in Room 94 in the basement of the Old Lincoln School at 194 Boylston Street in Brookline. Close collaboration with the school administrators and classroom teachers have allowed RED to use classroom spaces for home bases for several of our grades. RED also has access to the cafeteria, gym, and playground areas both across the street and on the sides of the school.
TEACHING STAFF
We maintain a ratio of 1 teacher for every 7 children in our K-2 Program. The ratio may go up to 1:10 in our older student programs. Many of our teachers have a degree in early childhood education; others have studied art, theater or music. All of them are nurturing, responsible, fun and energetic.
SCHEDULING OPTIONS
Your child may attend for 2, 3, 4 or 5 days. Our hours are from 12:30 – 2:00pm for PreK children, and 2:20-6pm for our K-7 program. Please click on the “Daily Schedules” link for more info on how our afternoons run!
VACATION CARE
We offer coverage over February and April school vacations for an additional fee.
RED is a licensed extended day enrichment program located at the Old Lincoln School in Brookline, MA.
